Lots of excitement in the past week, had my first real-life post-grad interview which can only mean ONE THING: ego-boosting jams all. damn. day.
Who better to build the momentum than bass-head mastermind Figure? And who better to remix than the funky future intelligencer Deltron 3030?
Deltron 3030 – Upgrade (Figure Remix) // “I reduce the game when I boost my brain”
And for a more inspirational Figure remix, Citizen Cope lights up all the right parts of your soul.
Citizen Cope – Lifeline (Figure Remix)
But really, you should get more amped on yourself if you’re about to go sell yourself. Like they say, if you don’t have confidence in yourself, who will?
Enter Krewella. Drum & Bass. Sexy vocals. Gets the blood pumpin.
Krewella – Come and Get it
Conveniently, Krewella just released an EP absolutely packed with solid remixes for the price of a “like” on their Facebook page. One of my favorites, and another motivator, has to be this electro house gem.
Krewella – Alive (Cash Cash x DJ KalKutta Remix)
I could leave this post at that, but I feel like I’d be lying to you all if I didn’t include my all-time go-to ego boosting track. If this doesn’t make your ‘tude too hot to handle, nothing will. Give up those visualization techniques and resume tips and impressive yet humble interview responses and bangin yet professional outfit, because you’re egotistically screwed.
Now go get ‘em tiger.
Gorgeous yet slightly unnerving new video for Purity Ring’s track “Lofticries”, one that’s always deep in rotation at our pad.
In the words of director AG Rojas, “‘Lofticries’ is a music video exploring the stoicism of psychically connected characters confronted by surreal, climactic moments. It is also a song off my favorite album of the year by Purity Ring.”
Two lovely tracks for that burning nostalgia that lingers long after summer’s end, thinking of pretty things and feelings but feeling real lazy and bundled up, bathed in saudades.
Jernalism – Temptation
Catching Flies – The Stars
The colors shine for yoooouuuuu
…when music starts playing and you realize you’d absentmindedly been holding your breath throughout the silence? And how long has it really been? geuh-AHHHHHHHH breathe deep!
Chet Faker – No Diggity (Refreshing take on the classic, and by far one of my top played of summer thus far)
Lord Huron – Time to Run (“Run away with me, it’ll all make sense” a solid upbeat, folk-y jam that’ll get your get-up-and-go runnin)
Let You Love Me (XXYYXX Remix) – Tinashe (Sultry but brisk electro beats with some tantalizing vocals)
This song is the light, turned on.
Made it home after a nice spin through town on the beach cruiser, the hot afternoon sun dripping down through fresh green foliage, light breeze lifting my locks into the air, feelin in rhythm with life. Found this song. I do believe it’s the soundtrack to that sentiment.
Heard the remix first, but the original is absolutely lovely just the way it is.
This one just took me straight back to slanted sunlight over the narrows, where I’m now fairly certain my heart has been residing, hiding out from the tumult of the lower 48.
My oh my does this song make it feel good to find it again.
